7 Most Caffeinated K-Cups You Can Buy in 2021

In case you’re wondering if it’s OK to use off-brand K-Cups, don’t worry. Keurig’s main patent for the K-Cup design expired in 2012, so any coffee company can market their pods as K-Cup compatible. Keep in mind though, that if you’re using a Keurig brewer, the use of off-brand cups may result in a service fee if it’s determined that a faulty non-Keurig brand cup was the cause for the damage/malfunction.

In 2012 Keurig's main patent on its K-Cup pods expired, leading to new product launches, including brewer models that only accept pods from Keurig brands.

Please keep in mind that caffeine may be dangerous in large doses. Don’t overdo it.

Claiming to have some of the strongest K Cup caffeine cups, this company offers a killer variety pack. The “high caffeine” coffee pods include Shock, Red Eye, Revved, Double Donut and Guy Fieri.

Please note that many reviews state that not all of the 30 cups in the pack are high caffeine, but some do have 2x the caffeine.

The pods range in flavor profiles and roast. Choose from a variety of flavored coffees, aromatic blends of arabica and robusta, and some of the strongest caffeine pods.

People who have reviewed this product also offer their advice on why not to buy it, comparing it to buying a pack of baseball cards. It seems that like in variety packs of candy, you get less of what you really want and more of the filler brands.

However, this pack could work as a gift for someone who isn’t a coffee snob or someone who likes to mix it up on a daily basis. A 30 pack of these coffee pods is exactly what you need to make your next month a coffee delight.

The Jo coffee brand started as a specialty coffee brand, offering their products exclusively on Amazon. They don’t advertise as having “K Cups with most caffeine,” but Jo products are unique.

How exactly?

Well, first off, the cup isn’t made of plastic. But don’t worry, the freshness of the coffee is preserved thanks to an inner storage container that’s resealable! The coffee is 100% Arabica, USDA-certified organic as well as Fair Trade and Kosher certified. And Jo single serve pods are compatible with Keurig 1.0 and 2.0, Cuisinart, Breville, Mr. Coffee and Bunn brewers.

The French Roast pods are advertised as having a dark cocoa and brown sugar flavor profile, coupled with an intense, bold flavor.

REVV – Strong Coffee, Strong K-Cups

REVV – Strong Coffee, Strong K-Cups

Things we liked:
  • Great tasting dark-roast coffee
  • Reasonably priced
  • Compatible with Keurig 1.0 and 2.0 brewers
  • Three blends of dark roast, high-caffeine coffee
Things we didn’t like:
  • Not a con necessarily, but it’s unclear if the coffee is organic and fair trade

REVV is a Keurig-brand of coffee pods. They’re marketed as having more caffeine than the average coffee, and in this case, user reviews match the hype. REVV gives you a big boost of energy in a small package.

Available in 24, 72 and 96 cup packs, REVV coffee has an intense, bold flavor. There are three types of pods: No Surrender, Afterburner and Turbocharger. All three blends are dark-roasted and promise to give you electrifyingly supersonic battle-ready energy.

Unlike most caffeine K Cups REVV pods will 100% work with your Keurig because Keurig makes REVV pods.

There’s some conflicting information about the caffeine content in REVV pods. You’ll find some sources stating as much as 159 mg per cup, while others state 127 mg. Our opinion is, if the official manufacturer doesn’t have it anywhere on the packaging or their website, it’s probably bunk.

Things To Consider Before Buying

The most important thing to remember when shopping around for the most caffeinated K Cups is — you may not get as much of a caffeine buzz as you’re expecting. And the reason is that individual tolerance and sensitivity varieties. Plus, brewing time and the model of single serve coffee machines make a huge difference.

K Cup Caffeine Content

According to the FDA, the average 8 oz cup of brewed coffee contains about 100 mg of caffeine, and up to 400 mg (about 4 cups) appears to be safe for most healthy adults. Remember that every individual reacts differently to caffeine, so these numbers are not absolute and only reflect the average.

Origin Of (Coffee) Species

Not all companies list the exact origin of their beans. Check the label before buying for USDA-organic certified and fair trade certified (and other certifications like Kosher-certified) if that’s a concern for you. And While robusta beans are considered to have more caffeine than arabica, you’ll notice many high-caffeine pods have 100$ pure arabica.

Accounting For Taste

You’d think that the highest caffeine K Cup would taste worse than regular-caffeinated, but judging by the reviews for most of the K-Cups on our list, the taste is bold and delivers an intense coffee flavor.

Sustainability And Community Credentials

All brands embrace environmental responsibility. If this is something you feel passionate about, check out Jo Coffee pods (the cups aren’t made of plastic). Remember to follow the recycling instructions on the package, as most brands state that you have to separate the plastic, foil and paper filter/coffee ground parts.

Price

You’ll get the best price if you buy bulk packs. Prices range from about $1 per cup to $3.30 per cup. Make sure to cross-check prices on the official website with Amazon or wherever you’re buying. For example, Black Rifle CAF cups are $3.30 per cup on Amazon, while they’re $1.16 on the official website.
